Police destroyed a dagga plantation, suspect arrested

KIMBERLEY - Crime prevention patrols led the police to a house in Greenpoint, near Kimberley where dagga plantation was uncovered.

While the police continued with crime prevention patrols, a 33-year-old man was spotted carrying a bag, and the police stopped and searched him. Upon searching him, he was found in possession of two plastic bags filled with dagga.

The confiscation and arrest was executed by the Northern Cape Provincial Support members, Public Order Police and Visible Police. The focus of the crime prevention was to enforce the Disaster Management Act, adjusted level 3 Regulations and to curb criminal activities in greater Kimberley.

The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of dagga.  Dagga found in possession is worth R500. 00.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate's Court soon.
