With extortion of business owners and individuals high on our priority list, members of the Western Cape Flying Squad reacted on a complaint that suspects had collected extortion money from a victim yesterday in Khayelitsha. Their swift response enabled them to catch up to the fleeing suspects who were pursued to an address in Harare. Here the three suspects aged between 28 and 35 were arrested in possession of a prohibited 9mm pistol and 17 rounds of ammunition. They are expected to make their court appearance in Khayelitsha today to face charges for the possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of ammunition and extortion.

In an unrelated incident last night in Milnerton, members of the Flying Squad relied on their instincts and pulled over a suspicious vehicle for a search. This search landed a 44-year-old suspect behind bars for being in possession of an unlicensed 303 rifle and 19 rounds of ammunition. His court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow in Cape Town.
