NGQAMAKWE: Police were busy with their operations when they arrested four males aged between 21 and 31 years in the CBD at Ngqamakhwe.

Police were busy with operations doing stop and searches when they spotted a vehicle in town, approached and searched it. Upon searching police recovered a firearm with live ammunition on the driver's seat.  On investigation it was discovered that the firearm was stolen as the serial number is filed off.  The suspects was arrested and charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.  The vehicle and phones were confiscated.

The suspects will be appearing at Butterworth Magistrates’ Court soon.

The Acting Amathole District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu appreciated that at least one firearm is off the streets.
