MPUMALANGA - A School Governing Body Chairperson is due to appear before the Emalahleni Magistrate's Court tomorrow, Monday, 10 May 2021, for murder. This follows a meeting which was held on Friday, 07 May 2021 where violence erupted resulting in a 22-year-old man being stabbed to death.

Information at the disposal of the police indicates that the meeting was held at Duvhapark Primary School at Emalahleni allegedly to address concerns by some community members.

As the meeting was in progress, a scuffle broke out amongst attendees of the meeting resulting in the suspect allegedly stabbing another man. The victim was then taken to hospital for treatment where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Police were then notified about the stabbing incident leading to the arrest of the 43-year-old man.

The police management in Mpumalanga strongly condemns this incident and makes a clarion call to members of the public to desist from using violence to resolve conflicts and disagreements.

"One can never achieve anything good through violence instead violent actions often breed devastating consequences such as the loss of life," commented Major General Thulani Phahla, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga.

Meanwhile, the Mpumalanga Department of Education equally condemns this incident of violence and has deployed officials to the school from tomorrow, Monday, 10 May 2021 to gather more information on the circumstances that led to this incident.
