DURBAN - In the early hours today, Durban Central SAPS responded to a complaint of robbery and they swiftly arrested four suspects aged between 20 and 28 years. The suspects are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

The Durban Central police officers were conducting patrols along Matthews Meyiwa Road in Durban when they were flagged down by a security officer. The police officers were informed by the victim that he had been recently robbed at knife point by three males who later jumped into a vehicle.

The police conducted a search on the identified vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle was spotted at 03:30, travelling along Umngeni Road and it was intercepted. Four suspects were found in a vehicle and they were searched. Upon searching them, they were found in possession of the complainant’s cellphone. A knife suspected to be used in the commission of the robbery was also seized from the suspects.

All four suspects were arrested for robbery as well as possession of a dangerous weapon. The vehicle that was used by the suspects was impounded by police for further investigation. The recovered cellphone was returned to the lawful owner.
