WESTERN CAPE - Our focus to significantly reduce the number of firearms in the wrong hands in this province, has led to the arrest of a 16-year-old male during police interventions in Lentegeur, Mitchells plain yesterday.

Observant members were busy with patrols when they responded to intelligence driven information. As they approached a local shop in Firethorn Street, they found the suspect armed with a 9mm pistol with three rounds of ammunition. The boy could not produce a valid licence to be in possession of such a firearm, and was arrested.

Once charged, he is expected make a court appearance in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate court.
