The Uitenhage Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual office Unit was commended for a successful conviction in the Port Elizabeth High Court today. Isaac Miggels (37) was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment after he was successfully convicted on charges of Kidnapping and Rape. The accused lured a 7-year-old girl from her house in Despatch on 20 April 2011. The family was alerted by children that played with the victim at the time. The police were alerted after the victim's father found the accused and his child in the bushes not far from the house. The investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Eddie Saaiman said that he his blissful with the verdict and he believe that these types of convictions are a deterrent for those criminals that want to commit rape.
