CAPE TOWN - Committed to keeping their communities safe, members of Kraaifontein police arrested a suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

On Tuesday, 22 June 2021, at about 10:15, police members were busy with patrols in the policing precinct. Whilst driving down Wolwefontein Street in Summerville, they noticed a male person acting suspiciously. When he noticed the police vehicle, he attempted to flee the scene with police members in pursuit, who swiftly apprehended and searched him.  A loaded 9mm pistol was found in the possession of the suspect, who could not produce a valid licence to possess such a firearm. The 17-year-old male was arrested and detained. Once charged, the suspect will make a court appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
