HARRISMITH: The high visibility of police and traffic officials conducting roadblock on N3 south bound still continues and appreciated by motorists passing by.

The purpose is to combat crime and ensure safety and security of all people within the area driving through Harrismith.

Additional SANDF members were deployed near truck-inns.

Since the beginning of the roadblock quite a number of people were arrested and charged as illegal immigrants, possession of suspected stolen properties, drugs, drugs plants, dagga, unlicensed firearms and ammunition and theft of motor vehicle.

The presence of police has seen a sharp reduction of serious crimes in and around Harrismith.

The national roads N5 and N3 have been flowing normal with traffic since the reopening of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
