DURBAN - On 11 August 2021 The District Trio Task Team, Metro Trio Crimes and Provincial Counter Narcotics followed up on information on illegal ammunition in Tongaat area.

A premises was searched in Flamingo Heights, Tongaat. Upon searching the bedroom, the following ammunition was found:
81× 9mm live rounds,
68 × shotgun rounds,
7×38 special live rounds,
2×R5 rounds and
2 × Stopper rounds.

The suspect could not account for being in possession of the live ammunition. Upon searching further, a black bullet proof vest was also found. On inspecting the plates from the vest, it was found to belong to SAPS. The suspect stated that he had no knowledge of the plates.

A 41-year-old male was arrested and detained at Tongaat SAPS.
