WESTERN CAPE - Five suspects were arrested on Sunday, 22 August 2021, after Paarl East police Crime Prevention Unit conducted an operation in the area.

In the early hours of Sunday, the police members noticed five unknown males near to Magnolia Court. As the members prepared to search the suspects, the suspects fled in different directions. While pursuing the suspects on foot, police noticed one of the fleeing suspects disposing of what appeared to be a firearm. The firearm was recovered. The police members continued giving chase and managed to arrest all five suspects between the ages of 21 and 23.

Once charged they are expected to appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearms and ammunition.
