Nongoma SAPS Crack Team members could not believe their eyes when they saw about six hectors of dagga field in their area. On Thursday, 14 March 2013, at 06:00, the members were patrolling their area when they were informed about dagga field at Mfemfeni area at Nongoma. They proceeded to that place and found dagga plants as high as about two meters. There were no arrest made but the members mobilised more manpower to assist in destroying it. The street value of destroyed dagga could be more than millions of rands.

The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni is pleased that such a huge dagga field was identified and dagga destroyed by the members. The dagga could end up in urban areas where it was to be sold to our children. We encourage our community members to work together with the police to get rid of drugs in our society.
