CENTANE - Eastern Cape SAPS has embarked on a multi-disciplinary intervention on gender-based violence and femicide operations which are aimed at ensuring that all citizens are and feel safe.

These operations are led by the Men for Change.

The main focus of these operations is to promote police visibility and to sensitize the issue of gender-based violence and femicide while also ensuring that citizens are abiding with the law and that liquor selling outlets are operating within the framework of liquor trade.

During these operations the following successes were achieved:

- Dangerous Weapons were seized.

- Fines to the value of R 1 950 were issued for contravention of the Disaster Management Act and Public Drinking.

- One suspect, aged 42, was arrested and charged with an Assault on Police and Defeating the ends of Justice.

The suspect will appear in the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 September 2021.

During the off-duty parade, Buffalo City District Detective Commander, Brigadier Mxolisi Mqotyana thanked the members for their hard work and dedication. Saying: "Colleagues together we can beat this, your efforts today have proven to be great team work and spirit. We expect nothing but excellence going forward”, he concluded.
