Media Statement GAUTENG – The Johannesburg based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team arrested a 35-year-old suspect for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting investors of more than R7 million. It is alleged that from November 2017 to February 2019, the suspect rented an office in Sandton under the Goldmine Stock Market Traders (Pty) Ltd, promising a 100% interest to the investors. He allegedly targeted affluent people who would invest millions of rands into his scam. None of them received the promised interest nor the capital. The suspect moved office and disappeared. The matter was reported to the Hawks for investigation which led his arrest yesterday, 14 October 2021 at his residential premises. He will be charged for fraud and will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Monday, 18 October 2021. Ends
