Media Statement On 11 November 2021, the Umbilo task team successfully arrested three suspects for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. It is alleged that on 11 November 2021 at 18:00, police were conducting duties along Umbilo Road when they came across a vehicle with three men. The vehicle was intercepted and searched. During the search police discovered two 9mm pistols and 36 rounds of ammunition which was seized on the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was also identified to be fitted with false registration plates and was taken to the pound for further investigation. The three suspects aged between 19 and 27 are set to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon for being in unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
