GAUTENG - On Thursday, 26 May 2022 members of SAPS Mondeor arrested five suspects, aged between 25 and 30, on Swartkoppies Road in Mayfield Park for hijacking, kidnapping as well as possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

According to a preliminary report the members were out on a Crime Prevention patrol when they detected a suspicious looking vehicle with no number plate on the side of the road.

Upon further investigation it was established that one of the occupants in the vehicle is a kidnapped victim who had been allegedly hijacked in Eden Park.

The SAPS members also recovered an unlicensed firearm with the serial number filed off with ammunition.

The five suspects are expected to appear before the Booysens Magistrates' Court soon.
