KWAZULU-NATAL – On Tuesday 28 June 2022, the Greytown Regional Court convicted and sentenced Dumisani Mchunu who was a traffic officer at Umvoti Municipality.

Mchunu demanded R10 000-00 gratification after he claimed that the license disc of the complainant’s vehicle was fraudulent. The complainant reported the matter to the Hawks members from Durban Serious Corruption Investigation and an undercover operation was conducted on 03 March 2022. He was arrested at his place of employment and charged for corruption.

He appeared in court several times until he was convicted and sentenced. He was sentenced to four years imprisonment of which half of the sentence will be served under correctional supervision.
