More than 200 suspects arrested during Safer Festive Season Operations

POTCHEFSTROOM – Collaborative crime fighting efforts that aim to safeguard society during this festive season and to ensure overall stability in the country yielded success when police in the province arrested 251 suspects between 22 November and Monday morning, 06 December 2021.

The suspects were arrested for contact crimes, property related crimes, crimes detected as a result of police action and many others during the joint Safer Festive Season Operations conducted in the province.

Furthermore, awareness activities and police actions focusing on prevention of crimes against vulnerable groups including Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) as well as aggravated robberies are being held jointly with members of Community in Blue initiative and Community Patrollers to sensitise the public about their safety and security.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena assured members of the community that South African Police Service (SAPS) members in the province in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, are committed to ensuring the wellbeing and safety of all South African citizens during festive season.
