NELSPRUIT – Yesterday, at approximately 23:10, the police attended a horrifying incident in which a 68 year old elderly man was brutally killed, allegedly by his stepson.

Reports suggest that the police spotted three cars driving at high speed and became inquisitive. They then followed those cars until to a certain address in Witbank.

When they arrived at that particular address they were greeted by an elderly woman who was in a state of shock. The woman told the police to break the door open to gain entry as the house was locked and she was outside.

After having broken the door, they entered the house, only to find the lifeless body of an old man lying in bed with 13 stab wounds.

A short probe revealed that the victim was allegedly stabbed by his stepson. The police were also informed that the suspect, after having committed the murder, fled in a Hundai sedan with registration number FXJ 285 MP, silver in colour. The vehicle belonged to the victim and it was later discovered that it was left abandoned in Springs.

Therefore we request the community to assist with information regarding this barbaric incident.

Anyone with information may contact the Witbank Police Station at (013) 6555000 or alternatively contact any nearest police station.

In the meantime the police in Witbank believe that Mr Jankowitz Herman can be of great help in solving this case. We therefore request him to come to Witbank police station or anyone who sees him to contact Detective Warrant Officer Johannes Simelane at 078 167 9342
