Polokwane – A 22 year old man will appear in the Lephalale Magistrates’ Court on Monday after he was arrested for the murder of a 76 year old woman on a farm just outside Lephalale last week.
The body of Susan Kotze was found on Tuesday evening last week by relatives who failed to reach her when they attempted to contact her. When they went to the farm to check on her, they found the lights inside the house on, but the house was locked and there was no response. The Police were called and when they broke into the house the body was discovered. It would seem as if she had been strangled with a wire coat hanger. The suspect fled taking two cell phones, a small amount of cash and her Ford Bantam bakkie.
Through thorough investigations by a specialised team, the suspect was arrested at the home of his uncle at Northam on Friday. The stolen goods were recovered during the arrest. According to information the suspect worked on a nearby farm, but was dismissed earlier this month. He allegedly asked her for employment and she apparenty agreed to let him perform small jobs around the yard.
He will appear in court on charges of murder and theft.
