Suspect arrested for the illegal possession of lobster tails

WESTERN CAPE - Efforts to stop the illegal crayfish trade in our province landed a 33-year-old suspect behind bars on Tuesday evening 01 February 2022. Members attached to the Maitland Flying Squad searched a premises in Strand after they received information about crayfish tails at a premises. The members confiscated 936 lobster tails.

The suspect is due to make a court appearance in Strand Magistrates court on Friday 04 February 2022.

In an unrelated matter members of Atlantis police arrested a 15-year-old suspect for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in Acacia Street, Protea Park, Atlantis yesterday 02 February 2022 at about 16:45.

The members received a complaint about a firearm at a premises and searched the premises. They found a 9mm pistol with no serial number with ammunition hidden in a room.

Once charged the suspect will appear in the Atlantis Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
