9-year-old victim was with his family at home in Phase 3 Mangaung when he started sweating and vomiting.

It was on Saturday 05 February 2022 at about 20:00 when the victim was taken to hospital after an excessive vomiting.  On arrival at the hospital, medical professionals tried all they could but the child lost his life. 

Police were made aware of the sudden sickness and passing of the child and an Inquest file was registered by Kopanong Detectives.  Post-mortem was conducted and it allegedly confirmed that the child died due to poisoning.

Detectives worked tirelessly putting pieces of information together until everything pointed to the suspect, who is the 32-year-old boyfriend to the deceased's mother. The suspect was traced and arrested. 

The suspect will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate court on Friday for murder.
