WESTERN CAPE - The fight against the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition yielded success when members of the Anti-Gang Unit arrested suspects for the illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs.

The members searched a premises in Horizon Court, Ottery, on Wednesday night, where they confiscated a 9mm pistol with 27 rounds of ammunition. They arrested an adult male for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

In an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Gang Unit, searched a premises in Ventura Street, Factreton, where they found a 7.65 pistol with five rounds of ammunition hidden under the wooden floor of the house. A 46-year-old male was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Furthermore, Anti-Gang Unit members searched a premises in St Micheals Way Lotus River, and arrested a 33-year-old male for the possession of drugs. The members seized 365 mandrax tablets, 26 packets cocaine, 57 packets crystal meth and a undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspects will appear in the Wynberg and Goodwood Magistrates’ Courts once they have been charged.
