Media Statement from Northern Cape Media Centre Kimberley Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is requesting the community’s help in tracing a suspect who allegedly attempted to raped a 29-year-old woman in August last year. The suspect is an African male, aged about 29 years, dark in complexion and he is 1, 7 meters tall. It is alleged that on 02/08/2014 at about 23:00, the victim was walking to her cousin’s place when approached by the suspect who asked her for directions to Greenpoint. After getting the directions, the suspect forcefully took the victims cell phone. He threatened the victim with a knife and dragged her out of the road to nearby tree. The victim screamed and people who were passing there heard her and came to her rescue. The suspect fled the scene.
