Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks)

NORTHERN CAPE – Jean Pierre Van Niekerk (25), made a second appearance before Kimberley Serious Commercial Crime Court today. The accused first appeared on Thursday, 21 December 2023, after being arrested by Hawks Serious Commercial Crime members for fraud alternative theft.

Between July 2022 and March 2023, Van Niekerk who was employed by Northern Cape Cricket Union as a Financial Manager allegedly misappropriated funds belonging to the employer. Payments that were due to service providers were deposited to his personal bank account. The entity suffered an actual loss exceeding R400 000 plus interest.

The accused is out on bail and the case is postponed to Thursday, 01 February 2024.
