March 2013 Ixopo Regional Court has convicted and sentenced Zamani Mbewana, 26, and Lihle Sosibo,27, to 44 years
imprisonment each for housebreaking with intention to rob and robbery,
attempted murder and kidnapping of 52 years old man in December 2011. On 24 December 2011 at about 23:00 complainant arrived at his farm
and parked his motor vehicle. He went inside his
house and met the two accused waiting for him inside his house armed with
knives and bush knives. They attacked him and stabbed him forcing him to
open the safe. They took 4 firearms, ammunitions and cash from the safe. They
later forced him into his vehicle and drove with him and left him at Ncakubane road with both his arms broken and tied up. The victim managed to untie himself and went to the local police
station where he reported his ordeal. The case was assigned to Detective
Warrant Officer Zindela Madondo
from Ixopo Police Station and his speedy investigation led to the recovery of
all stolen firearms and ammunitions and the arrest of Zamani
and Lihle. The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni congratulated
Warrant Officer Madondo for his effective and speedy
investigation which led to successful prosecution of the two perpetrators of
violent crimes. For
