Police in Qumbu hunt armed robbers

QUMBU - Police in Qumbu are on the hunt for six alleged armed robbers who stole livestock from a Qumbu stock pound on Saturday 02 April 2022.

It is alleged that at about 22:30, six unknown armed men went to the pound and pointed the security guards with firearms. Entrance to the pound was gained by cutting the fence.  After being instructed to assist the thieves in moving the livestock out of the pound, the security guards were ordered to lie down and their hands tied.

All the stock totalling 126 cattle, 240 sheep and 115 goats were driven out of the pound. 

After following up on information, Qumbu Stock Theft Unit recovered 137 sheep, 79 goats and 3 cattle. The estimated value of the stolen stock is R1 629 000-00.

The remainder of the stock is still missing and investigations are continuing.
