SAPS recover stolen vehicle minutes after hijacking

WESTERN CAPE - High visibility patrols in Harare, Khayelitsha ensued the immediate recovery of a stolen vehicle.

At approximately 19:27 on Sunday, 24 April 2022, the Provincial Extortion Task Team was stopped by a complainant whose car had been hijacked in Ntlazane Street, Harare. Members responded swiftly and in no time they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the stolen vehicle. The suspects saw the police vehicles in pursuit, they stopped and two males jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The police gave chase but the suspects disappeared into the informal settlement, therefore no arrests were made. The vehicle was recovered and handed over to the victim.

Furthermore, members of the Western Cape Tactical Response Team attached to the Provincial Extortion Task Team confiscated drugs in Voortrekker Road, Goodwood. The team responded to a tip off of a drug outlet on Monday, the 25 April 2022 at about 00:35. Upon arrival, they discovered mandrax with an estimated street value of R20 000-00. The drugs and the property were seized as investigations continue.

Although no arrest has been made, members are commended for their rapid response in both instances.
