Media Statement from Northern Cape Media Centre Police in Kimberley are investigating a business robbery which allegedly took place at a well-known restaurant in Chapel Street, Kimberley. On Friday, 5 February 2015 at approximately 22:20, a 23 year old man allegedly grabbed a cash register through the window of a drive-through selling point at a food restaurant. The suspect fled on foot with the cash register. The employees at the restaurant chased after the suspect and alerted the police. The suspect dropped the cash register containing an undisclosed amount of cash in Lennox Street. With the help of other community members the suspect was cornered in Quinn Street, where he allegedly pulled a knife on the employees. The police arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect. The knife was confiscated and the cash register with all the money was retrieved and returned to the restaurant. “The Kimberley Cluster Commander, Major General Jean Abrahams lauds her members for the professional and vigilant response and the forwarded her gratitude to the community for their help in this regard.
