Media Statement POLOKWANE - The joint crime Prevention Operation Basadi continues to yield positive results across all the clusters of Limpopo, with the aim of preventing the rapid increase of crime in the targeted infested areas. From Thursday, 30 January 2020, the operation was focusing in the Giyani Cluster comprised of members from different Provincial Components, Clusters, Police stations and Units under the command of the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Human Resource Management (HRM), Major General Christine Morakaladi. The role players which participated during this operation include the Provincial and Municipal Traffic Police, the Department of Home Affairs, Liquor board, Young Civilians on Patrol (Y-COP), Publication board and Mechanical transport. The operation was executed through roadblocks, stop and searches and concluded with school visits as part of Safer Schools campaigns at Dzumeri and Malamulele areas. The following activities were embarked upon and successfully achieved: * 473 Motor Vehicles searched; * 1386 people searched; * 19 people screened for alcohol; * 42 Traffic summons issued; * 02 Schools visited for the Safer Schools campaigns; * 02 arrested for contravention of National Road Traffic Act; * 05 arrested for Public drinking; * 01 arrested for Non-compliance under the Second Hand Goods Act; * 03 arrested for Non-compliance on Liquor Act; * 04 second hand goods shops visited; * 26 liquor outlets visited and * 01 arrested for Possession of dangerous weapons.
