Media Statement from Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigation (HAWKS) PRETORIA – Two sting operations comprising members of the Hawks, Crime Intelligence has led to the arrest of four suspects last week Friday and on Monday for allegedly running and manufacturing illegal drugs. On Monday, members from the Hawks assisted by Crime Intelligence operatives arrested three suspects, two Nigerian men aged 30 and 33 as well as a 26-year-old South African woman in Mpumalanga, Secunda, for allegedly manufacturing and dealing in illegal drugs. Acting on a tip off, police raided the house and found three allegedly packing the suspected drugs. A further search led the police to what appears to be a clandestine drug laboratory and seized more drugs wrapped a black plastic bags estimated at millions of rands, undisclosed amount of money (cash) as well as chemicals used in manufacturing drugs. Following the discovery of the drugs and chemicals, the trio was nabbed on the spot. Apparently CAT was being manufactured on the premises. The suspects will appear before the Secunda Magistrate’s Court tomorrow 10 February 2015, facing a charge of dealing in drugs. Meanwhile last week Friday, the Hawks arrested a suspect at a clandestine drug laboratory in Kuruman at Mothibastat. Police established the legal activity, raided a house and seized 550g of drugs valued at approximately R250 000. Apparently CAT was also being manufactured inside the rented house. The suspect Victor Onyedikachi Maduike (44) was arrested during the take down operation. He appeared briefly at Mothibistat Magistrate Court today (Monday 09 February 2015) and his case was postponed to 16 February 2015 pending further investigations.
