Kagisho SAPS nabs cable thief

GALESHEWE – Vigilant Police members caught a cable thief red handed during the early hours of today during patrols of a hotspot area.

The 19-year-old male was apprehended when he was caught in the act digging up the cables in Nobengula Street in Soul City in Galeshewe.

The suspect was charged for tampering and or damaging essential infrastructure.

The suspect is in police custody and will appear in court soon.

The Kagisho Station Commander, Colonel Michelle Ford commended members of the shift under the supervision of Captain Nkomombini for their vigilance and alertness.

She further alluded saying "that the removal of copper cables often results in extensive power outages for the residents that rely on them to supply municipal electricity, infrastructure crimes are having a negative impact on our communities hence need to be dealt with harshly". The investigation continues.
