Suspects heading to court on hijacking and possession of imitation firearm charges

Members of Maitland Flying Squad arrested three suspects in the early hours of Sunday morning on charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of an imitation firearm. They were busy with patrols in Bonteheuwel pursuing information pertaining to a hijacked vehicle. When the driver of the hijacked vehicle noticed the patrol vehicle, he sped off with police in pursuit. The police members brought the vehicle to a standstill and searched the suspects. Three males aged between 17 and 19 were arrested and detained on charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of an imitation firearm.

In an unrelated incident members of the Ocean View police were busy with patrols on Saturday evening, 28 May 2022 when they noticed a vehicle parked next to Larkspur Court, Milky Way, in Ocean View. Upon approaching the vehicle, a male jumped out of the vehicle and ran with police members giving chase. The suspect was apprehended and searched, and found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition.

Once charged, both suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bishop Lavis and Simon’s Town Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
