Media Statement FREE STATE - A farm worker was apprehended in connection with the attempted murder investigation after an alleged incident on a farm in the Trompsburg district. On Monday 04 July 2022 at around 17:00 the victim, a 62-year-old female was attacked by a farm worker. She was inside the house when she allegedly came across a farm worker going through drawers. Upon seeing her, the suspect grabbed, strangled and assaulted her then fled the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital in Bloemfontein for medical treatment. An attempted murder case was opened for investigation. The activation plan was executed to search for the suspect and through a collective effort by a team of investigators from Trompsburg, Sringfontein and Colesberg Police arrested the suspect in the Colesberg district on 14 July 2022. The 39-year-old suspect will be brought before the Trompsburg Magistrates Court on Monday 18 July 2022 for attempted Murder.
