PARKTOWN - Addressing the proliferation of crimes against women, children and vulnerable persons remains a top priority for the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Police in Gauteng is investigating a rape case that occurred in Alexandra during April 2018. A report suggests that two female victims were raped after they left a local tavern with two unknown men, who allegedly offered them transport home. The two victims allegedly later woke up in a house, whereafter they were raped. The incident was subsequently reported at Alexandra police station.

The case has been assigned to Gauteng Serial Electronic Crimes Investigations (SECI) which is a specialised team within the provincial Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit.

Anyone that has information about the whereabouts of the person of interest on the identity kit or has any other information that may assist with the investigation is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant ME Thapedi on 082 777 8260, SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or alternatively leave an anonymous tip-off on the MySAPS App.
