Media Statement PARKTOWN - Police from Gauteng Commercial Crime Investigation Unit together with Investigators from South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) arrested three SASSA employees at their offices in Johannesburg Central on Friday, 14 March 2025, for alleged fraud. The fourth suspect was arrested at her place of residence in Soweto. The four suspects, three females and one male, aged between 30 and 48, are expected to appear before the Lenasia Magistrate's Court on Monday, 17 March, 2025, facing charges of fraud. Today's arrests come as a follow-up to another sting operation conducted on 04 February 2025. During the operation, four suspects were arrested in Soweto after they were found allegedly withdrawing money at the well-known retail store, using different SASSA and Bank cards. These four suspects, who are still in custody, were found with more than one hundred and fifty fraudulent cards and an unlicensed firearm. More arrests are imminent as police investigation is continuing. Ends
