This afternoon, two suspects driving a LDV on Baden Powel Drive N2 in Khayelitsha drew the attention of police officers on patrol as the canopy windows were all broken, and came across as suspicious. Immediate instinct led to an observation of the suspects which later resulted in them being pulled over and apprehended. Their vehicle was searched and six explosive sticks, five detonators and a signal jamming device were found in their possession.

The circumstances surrounding the discovery of the items and the suspects’ involvement in crime are now being investigated, and at this stage it is too soon to speculate on any possibilities.

The two suspects aged 33 and 38 are due to make a court appearance in Khayelitsha on Monday 2015-03-02.

End.
