Media Statement from KwaZulu Natal Media Centre On Thursday, 14 July 2016, Ladysmith Tactical Response Team members conducted an intelligence driven operation on drugs in Osizweni area. The members proceeded to a house in section B in Osizweni Township where 3 000 mandrax tablets and 1.4kg of dagga was recovered and a suspect was arrested. The team also went to another house in Ntendeka Farm where another 1 458 mandrax tablets and 6.942kg of dagga was recovered and another suspect was also arrested. The total value of the recovered drugs is R559 029-00. Two suspects age 33 and 40 will appear in the Madadeni Magistrates’ Court on Monday 18 July 2016 for possession of drugs. KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa commended the members for getting rid of drugs in our communities. “We want our society to live in a province that is free from drugs and that is why we are appealing to the community to join hands with us in making sure that those dealing in drugs are behind the bars”, he said.
