Media Statement from KwaZulu Natal Media Centre In the early hours of yesterday, 6 December 2016, Umhlali task team arrested a 44-year-old suspect for murder. It is alleged that at approximately 03:30 the suspect stabbed his girlfriend (37) to death at Shayamoya area in Shakaskraal after an argument. The members received information about this incident and they were told he was armed. They arrived at the scene, a verbal warning was given for the suspect to exit the premises but he did not come out. The members then utilized the patrol dog and the suspect was apprehended. The alleged murder weapon which was a knife, was found in his possession. The arrested suspect will appear in the Umhlali Periodical Court today. KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa praised the teams for apprehending the suspect. “ We cannot allow such things to happen in our society, we always say no abuse to women and children and those who are still abusing them will face the long arm of the law,’ he said.
