Suspect arrested for drugs worth R800 000

WESTERN CAPE – The Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau team (SANEB) based in Bellville together with Crime Intelligence have on Thursday, 25 August 2022 confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R800 000-00 and subsequently arrested a 40-year-old suspect along the N1 highway. 

This comes after the team reacted on information about a vehicle which was enroute to Cape Town suspected to be carrying consignment of drugs. The information was operationalised with a tactical deployment. They later pulled over the vehicle on the N1 near Goodwood prison.

A searched of the vehicle ensued and the members found 20 000 mandrax tablets concealed in a togbag. The team also seized the motor vehicle, a Silver Toyota, allegedly used in the commission of crime.

The suspect will appear in court on Monday, 29 August 2022 to face a charge of possession of drugs.
