Port Elizabeth: A 32 year old Shauderville man was arrested at his house during an early morning raid by members of the intervention units deployed in the Northern areas. Police received an anonymous tip off and immediately reacted. Rock cocaine, tik, tranquilisers and a substantial amount of cash was found in the Highfield Road house. The suspect is detained for dealing in drugs and will appear in the Gelvandale magistrate court on Monday, 18 April 2016.

The following arrests and confiscations were also made in the last 24 hours in Gelvandale and Bethelsdorp areas:

Arrests: 5 (illegal possession of state property, possession of unlicenced firearm and drugs, possession of suspected stolen property and drugs, robbery and dealing and possession of drugs)

Confiscations: bullet proof vest, 7.65 pistol and 8 rounds of ammunition, 11 mandrax tablets, 75 rolls of dagga, tik pipes, laptop, chainsaw, 2 plastic bags of loose dagga, 8 knives, 1x9mm round.

Since the launch of Operation Lockdown, the communities have volunteered vital information to the police and many arrests were executed as a result of the positive information provided.
