GAUTENG – Two suspects aged between 25 and 35 years will be appearing in the Nigel Magistrates’ court this morning following their arrest by the East Rand based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation together with Bidvest Protea Coin Security on Sunday, 22 October 2023 in Jameson Park.

It is alleged that a security officer received information regarding possible theft of fuel on the pipeline in Jameson Park and in the early hours of Monday, 23 October 2023 a patroller noticed a suspicious tanker near the fuel pipeline.  The suspect also noticed the patrollers and tried to flee on foot but was apprehended.  The second suspect was also caught not far from the tanker.

Further inspection on the scene revealed that the suspect had already opened the valve and fitted pipes to siphon fuel into the tanker.

The pair will be facing charges of tempering with essential infrastructure.
