CALA - The 39-year-old suspect will appear before Cala Magistrate's court Monday 23 February 2026 for allegations of possession and dealing in drugs. The suspect was arrested by Chris Hani District Task team in the evening of 19 Feberuary 2026 at Mnxe Administration Area, Cala. The shared information to the Task Team led the team to a homestead at Cala where on their arrival requested to search of which permission was granted. Upon searching, the members discovered bags with 3351 Boss Mandrax tablets, 30 sachets of tik and an undisclosed amount of cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is more than R300 000 and were seized by the Police.
"The alarming rate of drug smuggling in rural areas is a concern as most heinous crimes are committed with suspects being under drug influence," commented District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph. He also appreciated the efforts by the community members in sharing an incredible information that resulted to the arrest and confiscation of drugs in an attempt to sweep the streets of Chris Hani District.
