KWAZULU-NATAL – The Ezinqoleni Regional Court convicted and sentenced Sandile Shazi, aged 41, to five years imprisonment or to pay a fine of R20 000.00 for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Shazi was arrested in August last year during a joint operation by Port Shepstone based Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Tactical Response Team and Public Order Police at Emahlabathini area in KwaNyuswa.

He appeared in court several times until he was convicted and sentenced.

Shazi was further sentenced to two years imprisonment or to pay a fine of R8000.00 for possession of ammunition.
