Media Statement Crime combatting operations in the Mfuleni policing precinct yielded success when police members arrested a suspect for the possession of drugs on Tuesday, 03 March 2026. Members of Operation Lockdown III searched a premises in Mpeti Street, Mfuleni, after they received information about drugs at the premises. They found 71 mandrax tablets and 41 small sachets containing crystal meth in possession of a 41-year-old male. He was arrested for the possession of drugs and will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ court today, 05 March 2026. In an unrelated matter, the members were conducting stop and search operations in Sompepe Road, Mfuleni when they noticed a male running when he saw the police members. The members gave chase and saw how he throw something on the ground. The male disappeared between the informal dwellings and the members found a 7.65 pistol laying on the ground. The firearm was handed in as an exhibit at Mfuleni SAPS. An investigation into the origin of the firearm was opened. Ends
