ZWEILTSHA - Swift action by the South African Police Service Tactical Response Team led to the arrest of two brothers for unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Bhojini locality in Willowvale.

Police acted on information received from a reliable source indicating that the two suspects were in possession of unlicensed firearms at their homestead. Members were immediately deployed to Willowvale, where further intelligence pointed them to the exact residence.

During the early hours of Thursday, officers conducted observations in the area, including monitoring a location where one of the suspects was allegedly keeping a taxi he operates. As the day progressed, additional information confirmed that the suspects were at their home.

At approximately 22:00, the Tactical Response Team tactically approached the homestead, where members of the extended family were present. Upon questioning, the two suspects cooperated with police and handed over unlicensed firearms in their possession. One of the suspects further directed officers to another address a few kilometres away, where police followed up and conducted additional investigations.

Two male suspects, aged 29 and 33, were arrested for unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

They are expected to appear before the Willowvale Magistrate's Court on Monday, 02 March 2026, facing charges of unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
