Umlazi man gets life for murder

On 15 December 2015, Durban High Court convicted and sentenced Charles Lebogang Mesane (33) to life imprisonment for murder, 15 years for armed robbery and 5 years imprisonment for possession of unlicensed firearm. On 7 December 2013 at about 01:30, the victim was driving his vehicle, entering the gate at his home when he was shot. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A case of murder was opened at Bhekithemba police station for investigation which led to the arrest of the accused. He was remanded in custody until his conviction and sentencing.    

The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the investigating officr on his commitment in solving the case. “We will continue to solve all the murder case so that the perparotors can face the consequences of their actions,” she said.
