VREDE - The police in Vrede have arrested eight suspects for the murder of Thabang Motloung (21) of Thembalihle. It is alleged that on 12 September 2022 at about 17:00 the police were summoned to a complaint where a group of boys were fighting in Thembalihle. On their arrival at the scene they found the victim injured and on transit to local hospital in Vrede. He was then transferred to another hospital in Qwaqwa where he succumbed to injuries on 21 September 2022. It’s alleged that the deceased was a suspect in another case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was hiding from police until this incident. A case of murder was opened. The Vrede Detective traced and arrested two suspects on 22 September 2022 and their arrest led to additional six suspects behind bars of which four are minors. The minors were released and placed under supervision of their parents. The eight suspects are expected to appear before the Vrede Magistrate court on Monday, 26 September 2022 facing charges of murder. Ends
