SAPS Giyani embarks on a crime awareness campaign

GIYANI - The police in Giyani have today on Tuesday, 04 October 2022, conducted a crime awareness campaign in Giyani Central business centre visiting shops and the local taxi rank.

The Campaign was led by victim empowerment co-ordinator Sergeant Kubaye Ceith, Sergeant Maluleke Abie, Rural Safety co-ordinator Sergeant Mashava Vincent, Constable Mitileni and Station's Communication Officer Constable Ridgewell Rikhotso and Young Civilians on Patrol.

The campaign kick started in the morning with the members visiting Masingita shopping mall to address the community members in the mall. Thereafter they proceeded to the taxi rank to conduct a stop and searches and addressed community members at the taxi rank.

The following topics were addressed

  • Spiking incidents on the N1 route
  • Gender-based violence
  • Child neglect
  • ATM safety
  • Community Policing Forum (CPF) patrols in the CBD
  • Shoplifting.

The contact numbers of the community services centre, Station Commander and District's Commanders were shared with members of the community.
