GAUTENG - Three suspects aged between 30 and 40 will soon appear in court for armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.

On 03 August 2025, the police in Moroka were patrolling the area when they received information about the vehicle that had committed an armed robbery along the street in Chiawelo. They swiftly reacted to the scene and spotted the mentioned vehicle with three occupants inside. Upon searching the suspects and the vehicle, the police recovered a 9mm pistol with 08 live rounds and a revolver with 04 rounds, including the cash and cellphone belonging to the complaint. The serial numbers of both firearms were filed off. The suspects were arrested and detained.

Police investigations are continuing, and the possibility of linking the suspects to more cases cannot be ruled out.

The Joburg District Commissioner Major General Nonhlanhla Kubheka applauded the members for their swift reaction and commitment to removing illegal firearms from the streets.
